“The staff was very helpful. I knew nothing at all about Oceanside, but on their advice, I went down to the car park by the pier and visited the Top gun house (Kelly McGillis oceanfront home), the pier and the promenade. As they described, a simply lovely place! Thank you staff, you are a credit to your organization!” – Trip Advisor

“Great place to visit and explore history. I didn’t know how close this place was! I came here to visit this historical site with my family. Very rich with history here. You will definitely learn a lot, especially about what Abraham Lincoln did a month before he was assassinated.  Make sure to visit the Church and the sunken garden that was dug up across from the compound. Again, a place I would definitely come back to.” – Bernardo D. (Yelp)

“Sweet lil’ surf museum in North County. Come and soak in Californian (and Hawaiian) surf culture. Read the bit about Bethany Hamilton’s bikini! Pretty crazy. Definitely walk through the cute gift shop on your way out. $5 admission for a pretty quick tour. Rotating exhibits allow for multiple visits….” – Sue L. (Yelp)

Oceanside Museum of Art

Distance: 0.6 miles

With several highly praised contemporary art exhibitions each year, along with fun classes, concerts, culinary events and more, you’ll find something for everyone to enjoy at this great art museum nestled in the heart of Oceanside.

“My husband is a huge Disney buff and found out about the Rolly Crump exhibit here. We both paid the $5 for the audio tour which did not disappoint! Definitely recommend it and it was under 30 minutes. The museum was clean, spacious and the staff was all so friendly and helpful. The exhibit was well structured and very colorful! I enjoyed the little extra bits of Disney that we did not previously know. NOT kid friendly though, just FYI. Quite a few pieces were rather, adult. Overall a fun experience and a short walk to the pier! A fun afternoon for sure.” – Lauren E. (Yelp)

Oceanside Harbor Village

Distance: 1.1 miles

280 Harbor Drive S, Oceanside, CA 92054

This family-friendly location is home to oceanfront dining, shopping, fishing, sea life tours, boat rentals, and more! The Oceanside Harbor Village is a local gem and has many shops and businesses that have been around since the beginning of the Harbor’s rich history.

“Decades ago, I thought of Oceanside as a drab, overcast, Interstate 5-straddling afterthought, far from the excitement of L.A. or San Diego. But on a recent visit to watch a relative compete in the IronMan Triathlon, I was so pleasantly surprised. Harbor Village, filled with inviting restaurants and shops, and anchored by a well-maintained 54-year-old red-and-white lighthouse, was as delightful as the passing seal that barked and waved as if on cue. And the staff in the village – welcoming smiles galore! Also, a wide variety of food and drink options to please a broad spectrum of tastes. This is well worth a stop; L.A. and San Diego aren’t going anywhere.” – William M. (Trip Advisor)

Heritage Park Village Museum

Distance: 5.5 miles

220 Peyri Dr, Oceanside, CA 92058

This quaint location is within walking distance from the San Luis Rey Mission and was designed to be symbol of Oceanside’s heritage. It’s the perfect place for picnics, parties, or for nice spot to relax in this historic Oceanside location.

“A short drive from the Mission is this small park containing about a dozen buildings from the 1890’s. The historic buildings were relocated from various parts of Oceanside for the bicentennial celebration. It has become the permanent home for these structures. Included are a school, train depot, printing office and a small jail. There are picnic tables. Interiors are accessible on weekends. During the week, you can just see the exteriors. A perfect pairing with the Mission.” – Annette M. (Trip Advisor)
